it must've been the way

I have the new Taylor Swift song stuck in my head.

today was a fairytale
i wore a dress
you wore a dark grey t-shirt
told me i was pretty when i looked like a mess
it must've been the way
today was a fairytale

I just got a 95% on my psychology test!! Ok yeah it's only psych111 but still I've been doing so poorly in my tissue bio class that ANYTHING good makes me happy. I also went running for the first time since Saturday and it felt really good even if it was really tiring. So I'm feeling good! I'm just trying to motivate myself to study for the next few hours before the library closes... got my last midterm of the week (4 total) tomorrow, cooking class. I know it sounds easy but I'm afraid for some reason I'll do badly. We'll see...

Austin and I are flying home to Seattle next week! We get in Thursday night. I'm thinking hanging with the family that night and all Friday, then Saturday my mom will be busy cooking up a storm of Korean goodness for this old lady's birthday party that night, so Austin and I will probably hit up the actual city of Seattle and see my friends and such. Then party like it's 1999 with a buncha Koreans later that night. I know, you're all super jealous ;) Anyways, we'll get back Monday morning. I'm so excited!!!!!! :):):) I miss my family and I'm excited for Austin to finally meet them. It should be a good time. :)

Other news: I think I have hidrosis (sp? def?) and my hands are super dry. My fingers feel naked without my rings on. I want to get some dumbbells so I can get super toned upper arms. OPERATION HB CONTINUES! I made my first cheesecake this week! It turned out beautiful and delicious. :) White chocolate raspberry. I LOVE COOKING!!

Isaiah 40:29-31

He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Finally signed up for the GRE! May 8th is doomsday. What a costly test. Hooray for finally owning a credit card.

Am signing up for a 10K in March! Running it with the phleb girls and possibly Austin if his knee feels better. Lame t-shirts but oh well. I'm excited to remember what race pace feels like.

Thinking of picking the Provo Half-Marathon for my race! It's May 1, the week before the GRE. What a busy month May will be!! I just want to get it over with sooner rather than later so I don't overtrain myself. And it sounds sweet, they have a breakfast waiting for you at the finish line and live entertainment and such. Not that cool of a race, the only pretty part is running around the Provo river, but all the other half-marathons are later on in the summer. I think I'm running another one with Nicki at the end of summer, this time for speed. W00t!

Ran 7 miles yesterday. Felt pretty good! 8 is next week's goal. It's getting harder to find fun and long running routes in safe areas.

trabajo!

What a flurry of events! My friend Keith is working as a medical assistant in the Imaging Department at the Central Utah Clinic. He's in my medical terminology class and told me they were hiring and to send him my resume! So I did that night and he gave it to them the next day and they called me to schedule an interview! So I interviewed today and... they told me they wanted to hire me!!!

But here's the catch. They're looking for someone full-time but obviously I can't do that and school at the same time. They know that so they're willing to work with my schedule but... I don't know, it's kind of confusing b/c they just said to work as many hours as I could but what does that mean? 10? 20? 30? So I'm sending him my availability today and crossing my fingers that it works out... it's a bit of a mess b/c I'd have to quit my job at the Kennedy Center and give away tons of shifts at the health center but totally worth it!! I just hope my bosses aren't mad at me. It is totally out of the blue/happened so quick/late notice. I hope they understand.

There are so many good things about the job but I won't write about them unless I actually get it... so I don't feel worse. Haha.

In other news... well I think that's it.

tgif

I live for Fridays.

After a genetics review that went to 7pm, I went home and finally got out of my scrubs for the day and Austin and I went out to eat at Bangkok Grill, my faaaavorite Thai restaurant! It was crowded so the service was a little slow but it was DELISH. I love Thai food, I think it's my favorite. Afterwards we went with Sean and his date and some other people to Progressive Power Tumbling, in South Provo. SO FUN! I LOVE GYMNASTICS! And even though it's been a few years I can still do aerials!!! (cartwheels with no hands) And front flips and stuff, it was great, I was a giddy little kid in there, holy cow. I'm glad we went. :)

Then we played Taboo at my house where the girl team got a little bit dominated by the boy team, but I submit that it was because of this one player on our team who was... ditzy, to say the least. This is how she tried to get us to say "lizard":

"It can like glide or walk on water!! One of them is called the 'Jesus' blank!!! They like move around (this is where she started wiggling around) and..."

She gave us no hints that would lead us anywhere near lizard. Yup. But it was still fun :) I was a little buzzer happy.

Good times!!

noddin my head like yeah

stuck in my head.

so today i went to FINALLY pay my ticket fine once and for all (from the accident in nov) (i promise i haven't been slacking--the first time i went to pay it it was way more than i thought so she gave me an extension then when i went again a different lady told me to figure stuff out with my insurance and my WA license so that brings us to today) so i go in and she tells me there's a warrant on my ticket.

A WARRANT?!?!

so after some discussion and phone calls and supervisors they find out that it's for a different person but accidentally got put on my ticket. good thing! "you were supposed to appear in court yesterday" "....what?" yeah. it was a little scary. but it got figured out! and she told me if i go to the appeals examiner she can reduce my fine! so i did and it dropped 20 more bones. w00t!

haha she gave me a paper saying that the warrant was a clerical error and has been repealed. in case i get pulled over today. haha. there's a warrant out for me!!!

in other news, i'm scared for my genetics test but did well on my psych one and tomorrow is plasma day number two. also, i ran six miles on wed 11 minutes faster than my last six miler. :)

on my mind

  • PA schools--I got an email today saying my coursework counts for James Madison University! Shenandoah might say yes too! I gotta figure out for sure which schools I'm applying to. In a couple weeks I'm asking for letters of recommendation. Scary...
  • GRE--decided to take it AFTER finals, sometime in May. Which leads me to...
  • Half-Marathon--gotta pick one, gotta make sure it doesn't coincide with the GRE. Which one should I do first? Both freak me out. Which one freaks me out more? Do I want to do that one first or second? Thoughts? Also, I am already burning out. :( I'm starting to dread the long run days. I need a running buddy, stat, otherwise I'm gonna be a failure and end up quitting this training thing. Help!
  • Where am I going to live next year? People are starting to look at housing already...
  • noisy roommates. I realize that you're graduated and work starts at 10 freaking am, but some of us have to get up at 6:45am and would rather not be exhausted the rest of the day. Some decency, common courtesy would be nice. Instead of having to wait for me to text you past 1am asking you to keep it down. Thanks.
  • Oh the uncertainty of the future.

stay-in date/ice climbing/scrabble

Friday could not come sooner... just in time before I went crazy with everything. Instead of going out, Austin and I decided to have a stay-in date. I was craving pizza and just wanted to chill so we grabbed a couple and some deliiiicious root beer at Five Buck, hung out at his apt for awhile, then headed over to mine to play scrabble (it ended up being boggle, and yes I dominated) and watch Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs with Lindy and Pehr. It was actually a pretty good movie! It was a good night in. :)

The next day I went to donate plasma for the first time and finally. I've been twice but they rejected me for taking anti-malarial meds the first time, then for donating blood the second time. But it was finally enough time for me to be okay to donate so I did and got $30! I pumped out that plasma super quick, in 30 minutes, but the rest of the visit took FOREVER! I'm hoping subsequent times don't take nearly as long... so I was supposed to go on a 6 mile run but figured that might not be the best idea after donating so I changed my long day runs to Wednesdays. Although I'd also like to donate on Wednesdays... so we'll see how things go. Once it starts getting lighter at night I'll be able to run later though... anyways.

Then Austin took me ICE CLIMBING! It's super crazy, I'll post pictures later today. Basically you have these spiky things on your snow boots (called cramp-ons) and an ice pick in each hand and you hack your way up a frozen waterfall. The one we did was about 60 feet and pretty vertical although this I did not know beforehand. So I freaking struggled up that thing. But I made it to the top! It was so nuts. It takes SO much arm strength, your legs hardly do anything. Unless I'm just doing it completely wrong. I was exhausted! And every time you chip in ice flies everywhere, I got huge chunks to the eyes a couple times. So tiring. I'm a little sore today. It's way harder than rock climbing, I think. But it was cool! Really gorgeous up there too. We're doing another climb sometime that's half the height and a lot easier so maybe I'll enjoy that more, haha.

Yesterday I went over and watched some Return of the King with his apartment then we made brownies and played a rousing game of scrabble in which I got completely dominated. Haha. And that was my weekend!
